My parents friends, Anna and Ted Burns from Melrose, had a camp on Goldsmiths land on Fosters Pond. It had a row of French doors on the side overlooking the pond and they called it the Goldfish Bowl. It had a massive stone fireplace and of course an outhouse. The Burns had other friends from Melrose whose camp was next to theirs. Her nickname was Ducky Pond. We spent lots of time there jumping off the dock and swimming to their raft. Anna prided herself as being a great swimmer like Ester Williams. This was life in the late 40s and 50s.
