I’m working on a story that just isn’t ready for publication yet, so today I’m sharing some fall scenes by Andover legend and artist Bessie Goldsmith.
Bessie Goldsmith was a teacher, artist, historian, author, and Andover’s first woman police officer.
Legends are told of Bessie confronting trespassers to her land with her shotgun.
You can watch this video to learn more about a local Andover legend.
Thanks for reading and watching! I’ll be back next week with a Mystery Mondays, myth-busting story. Stay tuned!

Miscellany Mondays: Artwork by a local legend
My parents friends, Anna and Ted Burns from Melrose, had a camp on Goldsmiths land on Fosters Pond. It had a row of French doors on the side overlooking the pond and they called it the Goldfish Bowl. It had a massive stone fireplace and of course an outhouse. The Burns had other friends from Melrose whose camp was next to theirs. Her nickname was Ducky Pond. We spent lots of time there jumping off the dock and swimming to their raft. Anna prided herself as being a great swimmer like Ester Williams. This was life in the late 40s and 50s.
