Did you know that a West Andover farm once shipped 5,000 strawberry plants to Dublin, Ireland? The resulting strawberries would be used for jam-making.
Roger Lewis, the owner of the Lewis Farm, brought virus-free strawberries to Andover, with screen houses, weekly aphid spraying, and soil fumigation. You can hear him talk about his farm in this new video.
Video producer and college student Alistair McBrien combined family photographs with a 1984 oral history with farmer Roger Lewis to create Strawberry Fields, a story about farming in West Andover.
