Hi Marilyn, I could hardly believe my eyes when I saw your post today. Two weeks ago I stumbled across the same article in the Townsman. I also did a little sleuthing as it said he was for West Parish. Sure enough, we have a cenotaph in the West Parish Garden Cemetery. There is also a completed obituary on him in the Andover Advertiser. He was the son of Capt. Jonathan Phelps.
Hi Jim. I found the obit today, as well as a letter that Asa wrote about his trip to NV from San Francisco. I didnt get much time (yet) to read the letter. I am glad for the clarity of the pdfs.
