Part of my kindergarten year, 1972-73, was spent at Bancroft School while they renovated Shawsheen. I had Mrs Darby for Kindergarten . My mother sent me on “Boys Day” at the start of the school year and she reassured me there would be girls in the class and I would meet them the next day at “Girls Day”. I still recall the cards Mrs. Darby used to teach us the sounds of the alphabet. I have fond memories of Shawsheen School! I attended Shawsheen from Kindergarten through Sixth grade.
My daughter, Rebecca Colgate, attended half day Kindergarten there as well as SHED in 1985. She loved it.
I learned the flutophone while at West Elementary. I attended West Elementary Kindergarten the first year it opened in 1952 and it was already too small!

I vaguely remember Mrs. Darby. She may have been one of my teachers at Shawsheen or West El.
I do remember getting in line for SHED registration at 4:00 a.m... a year or two before the new building on the Phillips campus.
