So interesting about the “old Andover “ accent. I was not aware of this but I am aware of the almost identical Yankee speech in old Seabrook, N.H. . One big difference is that the “‘Brookers” accent was looked down on as uneducated, country speech. Because Seabrook was an isolated and self-contained community, natives kept that delightful twang longer than Andover. Even now, while the sea coast has become prime real estate, the accent can be heard among older ‘Brookers.
