A time capsule? Golly, that is interesting. Thanks, Barbara for another chapter in West El's history. I was sad to learn that the school is falling apart. Some of those problems are due to benign neglect by the town.

I've driven by West Elementary a 1000 times, always wondering about its history. Now I know!

Thanks Barbara...well done!!!

Very Vaguely. I was there fall 1968 - spring 1974 (grade 1 - 6) I was part of the second class to use the new Pods. Jim Redmond may know more about them. I thought several were buried over the years.

Thank you so much for sharing West El’s history, so interesting! Had to share that my 4th grader who is at West now has Ms. Hart this year—history repeating! :)

West Elementary’s pods caused shifts in both teaching methods and school culture. When my mother heard that students frequently sat in circles on the carpeted floor, she took me out to buy “slacks.” I had previously only worn dresses to school.

Does anybody know what happen to the "Time Capsules" that we buried in the center courtyard?

Glenn, The Time Capsules in the center courtyard could still be there. Do you remember where in the courtyard they were buried? Perhaps this calls for a treasure hunt.
