Indeed! My mother was a County Extension teacher that raveled the country teaching sewing and cooking lessons but she did not have sewing bird! I can see why you loved it. So glad you shred it again.

Another wonderfully researched and written article, Marilyn! Who knew about this fabulous "invention." (I must have missed the 2020 article.) And being a pre-wedding gift - hmmmmm. Not certain the message would have been as well received today, but the workmanship was exquisite. Thanks for another nugget of history!

I love this! The sewing bird is a totally new "gadget" for me learn about. Old tools were so beautifully designed in addition to being practical, which seems to indicate a very different aesthetic from the practicality of today. Thank you for sharing this!
